The Game Designers is a feature-length documentary film about board game designers! Join us as we follow professional and fledgling board game designers as they strive to bring their heartfelt creations to life. The challenges are great, but their resolve is even greater as they toil night and day to turn their dreams into a reality. Will the designers find success and get their games out into the world? Or will their creations become too complicated and convoluted to complete? Only time–and a whole lot of persistence–-will tell what happens!

Ratings and reviews

I enjoyed getting to see some designers I'm familiar with talk about their process and personal approach to design. As a documentary, I felt like there was a bit more polish needed here. The music was fantastic and well placed, yet there were some audio hiccups I could detect in the interviews themselves. Additionally, I would have also would have liked to have seen a more direct through line in the production. The story that came closest to presenting itself as a focal point of the film was that of “Battle for Biternia.” Overall though this was a joy to watch and I hope to see more releases like this in the future.

Nice and interesting documentary. It lets to see the Human part of a designer Life, not only the name on the boardgame. It's inspiring fornisce anyone who dreams to design a boardgame, and show the Huge variety of People who works in the game industry. Only one remark: i would liked to see less "introductory/atmospheric shots, they slow the pace of the narrazioni.

A lot of inspiring clips and music together with the words of some of the most relevant professional game designers of board games and table-top role play games guides you through the thoughts, the doubts, the problems an aspiring designers get into. Seeing how some of the authors of top-selling games work, their creative environment and how they approach their ideas is worth the time spent watching the movie. I liked it. It also get you an idea of what a convention is and means. So, go and try some prototypes.
