THE GENTLEMEN follows American expat Mickey Pearson (Matthew McConaughey) who built a highly profitable marijuana empire in London. When word gets out that he's looking to cash out of the business forever it triggers plots, schemes, bribery and blackmail in an attempt to steal his domain out from under him. With an all-star ensemble cast including Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Henry Golding, Michelle Dockery, Jeremy Strong, Eddie Marsan, Colin Farrell, and Hugh Grant, THE GENTLEMEN is the highly anticipated, star-studded action comedy from the man behind classic films including LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS, SNATCH, REVOLVER and ROCKNROLLA.

This quickly became my favourite Guy Ritchie film, in large part due to Hugh Grant's brilliant performance. It was such a pleasure to watch an actor - who until quite recently has been one of the most type-cast actors in the business - create a character that's so far removed from anything I've seen him do before, that he absolutely steals the show. It's a great film even when setting HG aside, with the typical twists and turns you'd expect from the man who made it. I find that films which involve big plot twists can sometimes lose their re-watch value once you know what's going to happen, but that's not the case here. It's still at least as enjoyable to watch again, if not more so.

I find Guy Ritchie movies to be hit and miss, some I really like, but there are others I can't stand. For me, this is now my favourite and a lot has to be down to the brilliant performance of Hugh Grant, who is the real star of the film. Also a great performance from Charlie Hunnam, who I have to admit I thought was Tom Hardy when I saw the trailer! It's an enjoyable mix of comedy and action that you will never take too seriously, but you will likely watch over and over again. Finally, the soundtrack was just perfect.

Without doubt Hugh Grants greatest role, its the birth of Gangsta Comedy where Lock Stock only hinted at this style,The Gentlemen goes all the way finding the right balance of violence and comedy, the casting was brilliant and the film had just enough twists to keep me in suspense, loved it instant classic 9/10
