Great film. The characters have you involved, and the background of the girl is rather gruesome and shocking but delivered brilliantly. Daniel Craig as usual, great actor and plays the part well. The story will have you involved guessing throughout unlike some crime thrillers out there. I've not read the book but my friend said it is much, much shorter but agreed is a must see.

I found this effective and well made - it focuses on violence against women as did the books. The characters are well developed and notably the key roles are well presented I'm more nervous of what Hollywood will do to it but this version is worth a view

Unlike some film adaptations of books, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo follows the story of the book with only a handful of "inaccuracies", none of which detract from the story in my opinion. All the main parts/events from the book are there and I wouldn't discourage people from seeing it because of the alterations, although having read the book does give you the backstory to the characters and helps fill in the inevitable gaps that a 2.5 hour film leaves.
