The haunting story of THE GIVER centers on Jonas, who lives in a seemingly ideal, if colorless, world of conformity and contentment. Not until he is given his life assignment as the Receiver of Memory does he begin to understand the dark, complex secrets behind his fragile community. The film is based on Lois Lowry’s beloved young adult novel of the same name, which was the winner the 1994 Newbury Medal and has sold over 10 million copies worldwide.

But it fell seriously short of expectations. At one point you wonder: "So what's the big problem, here?". At another, you think: "What exactly is he trying to accomplish?" And in the end, you say: "What, all that for this?"

Que je n'avais pas vu un scénario aussi brillant. Science fiction qui vous amène à vous interroger sur la vie, l'amour, la mort sans pour autant être un film lourd.

This beautifuly crafted drama is creatively made to look like another simple black and white drama movie with lots of tears and breakups. But then, IT happened.....
