It's no coincidence that the "Godfather" theme plays towards movie's end. Like the Godfather, "The Guard Post" is an epic and cyclical retelling of the diseased "soldier" story. Its dynamic unintelligibility underlies a narrative rich in slippage, and makes the movie the penultimate choice in a galaxy of films from the past, present, and doubtless the future. Brava! Muerte Me Ahora!

A personal favorite of mine, this is a damned fine movie.
