Based on the best-selling novel, The Hate U Give tells the story of Starr Carter, who lives in two worlds: the poor, black neighborhood where she resides and the mostly white prep school she attends. This uneasy balance is shattered when she witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood friend by a policeman. Facing pressures from all sides, Starr must find her voice and stand up for what’s right.

I actually enjoyed this movie during these trying times with race issue's and police shootings. The acting wasn't Oscar worthy but it had a good message that we need to get drilled into our heads that All Lives Matter, including Black Lives who seem to be targeted by police brutality. It was a free watch so I would definitely recommend, even if for a small fee.

I give this movie a 4 out of 5 because it is a pretty good adpatation of the book. What rings true is the story of the anti-black racism that the community lives with and the sometimes inevitable outcome for all. THUG - or the hate we give impacts everyone. The movie is a good reminder of the spiral of events/experiences that can make us lead with love or with hate. Worth watching, but please read the book too.

Inspiring, raw, powerful, emotional and never dull. Did find the movie a little bit long, and trying to pack to many things at times. Definitely worth watching, especially in our times.
