It is a LvT serial killer film. Somewhat like Henry Portrait Of A Serial Killer, we follow a very matter of fact story where the titular Jack recounts a life of seemingly random murders and how he rationalises each act. The film is very gruesome, but true to his form, Trier keeps things more in the realm of arthouse than tortureporn. If you've seen his later deconstructions of genre films and enjoyed them in their off-centered way. Then I do recommend this one as well.
