About this movie

From writer/director Ti West comes perhaps the most intense shocker of the year: Desperate for quick cash, college sophomore Samantha Hughes takes a babysitting job in the isolated mansion of the creepy Ulman family. Ignoring the warnings from her best friend Samantha, she has no idea that a nightmare of unspeakable fear and torment awaits her within these walls. At midnight, in the shadow of a full lunar eclipse, the ultimate evil will be unleashed. Cult icons Tom Noonan, Mary Woronov, and Dee Wallace co-star in the acclaimed demonic thriller that fans and critics hail as an unnerving return to late 70s/early 80s classic horror.

The movie was serviceable at best. The bad guys were dumb as dirt. The build up took too long and the pay off was very dull. I thought this was going to be some kind of "must see" from reviews but now I see why I've never heard of it. It is not scary at all. I could watch this alone in a old murder house on cursed ground in the middle of the woods at midnight with the wind howling during a full moon with a graveyard next to the windows which have no curtains by candlelight and still fall asleep.

Despite the slow second Act, it is overall intriguing. Fantastic cinematography and wardrobe that pulls you into the decade.
