For those of us who have never suffered through such a tragedy, this movie gave life to the "what if". Well written, and acted out in painfully emotional and glorious detail, you come away knowing that God, for whatever reason, intervened and not only saved, but brought back together this family. Maybe it was so that they could tell their story and remind us all of just how precious our loved ones are to us. We should all be reminded to say "I love you" more, to hug often, and to share in the highs and lows of life, just happy to be together!

Familiar tale told about the most uncommon, extraordinary human experience without any sort of mystique but with complete transparency. It changed my life and caused me to experience sensations and emotions that no other film has. Most of us have seen a wound inflicted, separated family, disaster, or someone shedding tears in real life and/or on film. There may be more technical films showing these elements though they are not provocative like this film. At the end of the day it's about the story, recreating that and capturing that essence on film and this one NAILED IT. If you are debating on what film to watch at the moment and want something that actively, personally, wrenches at you emotionally and psychologically while it simultaneously wrenches at your sense of organization or any chance of being analytical through having time to process outcomes then you must watch The Impossible. This is now my favourite film.

I really liked the movie. It has been a few years since I've seen it, but I liked it. And so what if they are a white family that got out, they still went through the same ordeal as other people. They thought that they had lost their other family members, and almost did.
