A really brilliant, brilliant movie. Loosely based on one of my favorite childhood books, the film is set more in a real world that Ted Hughes' children novel. The changes work very well indeed. Just enough is made of the themes of the cold war and free will to make the point but not be too scary for the kids. This movie is in my top 5 animations ever and nearly in my top 5 movies of any type. Love it.

It's a shame that more people haven't heard of The Iron Giant. It's often called one of the greatest animated films in history for very good reason - the writing is brilliant, the animation is beautiful, and the story feels timeless and emotional without becoming cliché. I highly recommend this tale of a boy and his robot to anyone looking for a break from the usual Disney fare - just make sure you have the tissues handy!

This is one of my favourite animated action films of the 90s. Endearing characters, engaging plot and a few gut bursting laughs to keep you on your toes. Thank you Mr Bird.😊
