After finishing her incredible autobiography (all 1,000 pages), I feel like I knew her. I lived through her premiership and admired a strong leader - never wishy washy. But the film chose to focus on her dementia and flash backs...a human in decline and seemingly far removed from the height of power and accomplishment. While Streep is amazing, the script was not.

If someone took just what was in the film & reedited it, it could be five star movie. I'm old enough to remember Thatcher's administration. I was hopeful about this film, but must agree w/the reviewers who say the organization of the film is dreadful & confusing. I don't have a problem with stories told in flashback; however, the sequence of the flashbacks made following the story difficult. This excellent cast & crew would have shone even more brightly had there been a consistent chronology.

And Jim Broadbent is lovely as well, but the script was disappointing. It goes deep into certain areas (e.g. her dementia - of which the film's portrayal is purely speculative since it's undocumented) and barely scratches the surface of others that would have been much more interesting (e.g. how she commanded respect and influence in the early days when no one was taking women seriously in politics).
