When a brilliant scientist goes missing, the government puts Detective Charlie Chan (Sidney Toler) on the case. At the scientist's mansion, Chan finds no shortage of suspects among the man's family members and resentful servants. Aided by his chauffeur, Birmingham Brown (Mantan Moreland), and son Eddie (Edwin Luke), Chan uses his cunning and experience to ferret out the truth and recover the top-secret formula that the scientist was working on just before his disappearance.
