After the death of his father King George V (Michael Gambon of HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE) and the scandalous abdication of King Edward VIII (Guy Pearce of MEMENTO), Bertie (Academy-Award®-winner Colin Firth) who has suffered from a debilitating speech impediment all his life, is suddenly crowned King George VI of England. Excellent movie buy if u can. I drove my kids nuts by rewatching. The man that wrote it had ask the Queen mother if he could make it, she ask him to wait tell she was gone. She told him the pain was still there.

Excellent movie about the father of Queen Elizabeth II who was totally surprised at becoming King, who stuttered and was ashamed of it, who had to lead England through WWII. Very entertaining and a true story! Wow!

One of my best movies of all time. What acting, what a dialogue writing. A Master piece.
