This movie says in the plainest possible language: yes, there *is* such thing as the enemy. Sometimes, people end up on the opposite sides in conflicts simply by the force of circumstances. In that case, it's easy to picture them on the same side if those circumstances change. But there are those with whom you can *never* imagine yourself on the same side, not without betraying your most sacred, most cherished values. Here, we see the examples of both.
