Chilean Patagonia. A land of dreams. A land of contrasts. From dense pristine forests filled with wildlife unfamiliar with the sight of humans, to towering, snow covered mountains with spectacular glaciers tumbling into storm tossed seas, from the open plains of the pampas to strength sapping peat-bogs, Patagonia is an adventure racers heaven. Every year, elite endurance athletes from around the world are drawn to the southernmost extreme of Chilean Patagonia to face the challenge of a lifetime in the PATAGONIAN EXPEDITION RACE, often referred to as The Last Wild Race. The race will take twenty teams on a journey through untamed wilderness, and into themselves, as they overcome exhaustion, cold and sleep deprivation. Now celebrating its 10th Anniversary, the PATAGONIAN EXPEDITION RACE was founded, and continues to be directed by geologist and recognized authority on Patagonia, Stjepan Pavicic, to draw attention to the need to protect this unique and fragile environment.
