Very authentic. Robert Graves was a strange but heroic Brit. His life was a struggle of extremes. No college student graduates without citing one of his books though. The dialogue appears stilted and the men all stereotyped but, this is where the types came from - Robert Graves incredibly strange life and heavy work.
