It has been years since the man once known as Tarzan (Skarsgård) left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane (Robbie) at his side.Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom (Waltz).But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.

If you have any emotional attachment towards the earlier films, I would strongly recommend to not watch this. They spent most of the film having flashbacks to explain some of the back story (in which we all know anyway) because they couldn't find a way to fit it in properly. They also managed to make Tarzan out like some posh upper class citizen, by giving him a fancy house, fancy clothes and a fancy accent. For someone who has spent their whole lives in the wild, raised by gorillas, he caught on pretty quickly (for all we know this is a pretty recent development, this part of his history wasn't really explained...) The film also raises a few questions as to how accurately they used the effects, for example, at the very end scene the house crumbles because of the stamped... not really sure how or why and what this added to the film, except makes it seem like they had a bit of money to throw at some special effects teams. However the overall aesthetics of the film were great, lots of really nice detail in the animals and overhead shots etc. all of this alongside decent acting from all characters in participation made the film.

This film is just a collection of face shots edited together to make a film. That's as bad as it sounds. I'm talking Attack Of The Clones levels of bad. I think the director must've called in sick every day except the last one, where he just said "yeah that's fine for with that."

As long as you're not expecting it to be an amazing film then you'll probably enjoy it (assuming you're looking at it because you like the genre). It's a perfectly watchable film and not nearly as bad as a lot of people make out. It's not perfect, but then what is?
