Bizarre and engaging, this film is not predictable - which these days is very refreshing. That said, it does draw from many classic horror and historical themes, though never too heavy handedly. Both actors perfectly suit their roles, but Defoe has the most gravitas. A very odd film, but worth a watch if phycological horror, mental degeneration and nebulous threat appeals to you.

Load of rubbish, two men working on a lighthouse, and the finish was the worst ending ever... Waste of £9.99 for a black and white pile of dirt!
