Bad reviews.I feel bad for ya cuz ya just didnt get it.This is a film connoisseur's dream. Everything about this movie leaves you in awh which rarely happens these days in modern cinema truly one to be treasured.Have an open mind dont take everything so literal apreciate tha technique and magic.Lots of greek mythology told throughout the visuals which fly right over pples head too many people are dull when it comes to watching film and are missin tha idea they want everything spelled out shame..

I was enamored with the production values of The Lighthouse alone. Robert Eggers successfully captured that pre-cinema square frame storytelling with visceral attention to detail. Combined with the sound editing, and the acting work from Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson, effectively portrays a truly Lovecraftian horror. Extra praise should be given to the acting, with both Dafoe and Pattinson getting mid/end act climaxes that define the insanity gained manning the light, on that pathetic rock.

A perfect homage to early Cinema. If you enjoy classics like Frankenstein, Dracula, and so many others you'll enjoy the lighthouse. The pacing is good, the suspense will keep you entertained. The cinematography is beautiful in this film and so are the visuals especially in black and white. If anyone is looking for an modern retro horror film i suggest the lighthouse. The lighthouse is a perfect throwback to early horror of suspense and thriller.
