Disney's The Lion King, directed by Jon Favreau, journeys to the African savanna, where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub's arrival. Scar, Mufasa's brother-and former heir to the throne-has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba's exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his. The all-star cast includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon. Disney's The Lion King utilizes pioneering filmmaking techniques to bring treasured characters to life in a whole new way.

I don't think Walt Disney would have released this. The voice actors & musical numbers totally lack heart. The only redeeming feature for me was James Earl Jones! The footage/animation is pretty good, but the story, music & enthusiasm from the voice actors is overall pretty abysmal. Had so much potential to be great. Wouldn't watch again - I'll stick with the original, thanks.

Seeing as The Lion King empire (films, digital off-shoots, live musical, video games and toys and other assorted merchandise) has earned Disney and associated subsidiaries around $10bn (give or take a few million) this good-looking, great sounding but too samey remake was never going to need its begging bowl at box offices. They just thought if they could, not if they should. It was alright as they added more backstory and how much work they put into it making it lifelike is amazing, but it was just for the money. The actors they put were just for name and didn't fit the characters, they ruined the songs especially 'can you feel the love tonight', there was just no heart and all I could hear was Beyonce overpowering the song(no hate) .Underwhelming and disappointed. Just my opinion, you can watch it if you want.🤷‍
