Peter Jackson's award-winning "The Lord of the Rings Trilogy" now includes all three films as Extended Editions: The Fellowship of the Ring Extended Edition, The Two Towers Extended Edition, and The Return of the King Extended Edition. The Trilogy tells a story of a meek hobbit of The Shire and eight companions setting out on a journey to Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring and the dark lord Sauron.

Outstanding movies, as a fan of the novel's I watched these with trepidation, I needn't have though as Peter Jackson took the story and made a masterpiece out of it. The casting was great too, now that I have watched these I couldn't imagine anyone else in the main roles. Seriously, if you've been on Mars or something and haven't yet watched these, do yourself a massive favour, grab yourself a drink, some popcorn and settle yourself in for 3 of the best movies ever made.

LotR trilogy is to date the greatest book to movie series ever made. The theatrical version and extended versions are great for their own respective reasons and have different things to offer. Theatrical is an evenly paced story that streamlines the Middle Earth world into a story everyone can understand and love. Whereas the extended edition adds those world building moments and dialogue that flesh out the book readers experience on the big screen. 5 out of 5.

The extended version is definitely worth it! I would definitely recommend over theatrical, it has so much more information and is heaps more easy to follow, although it is longer. This is a great series, and anyone who hasn't seen it, I strongly recommend for you to watch it, it is an awesomely epic series, you won't regret it :)
