The search had been orchestrated by an amateur historian, Philippa Langley, whose unrelenting research had been met with incomprehension by her friends and family and with scepticism by experts and academics. Possibly this has become my favourite film. It’s charming and totally captivating. I was tempted to watch it again immediately it finished, but decided I’d wait for my partner to get home!
