The Lovers is a refreshing, funny look at love, fidelity, and family, starring Debra Winger and Tracy Letts as a long-married and completely dispassionate husband and wife. Both are in the midst of serious affairs and are increasingly committed to their new partners. On the brink of officially calling it quits, a spark between them suddenly and unexpectedly reignites, leading them into an impulsive romance that forces them to navigate the hilarious complications of 'cheating' on their respective lovers. In the hands of someone like Neil Simon, this would have made a great comedy. Instead it was a painfully slow drama. The only character you end up caring about is the son, who doesn't show up until halfway through. Not awful. Well acted. Kind of depressing and hollow, like a Lifetime movie in oppisite world. Not fun and just a little icky.

Really great movie I saw it in the theater when it came out in May and was blown away at the acting the premise everything it was a very good independent movie that needs more people to watch it

Slow movie, but good story and fun to watch.
