The Man Who Invented Christmas tells of the magical journey that led to the creation of Ebenezer Scrooge (Christopher Plummer), Tiny Tim and other classic characters from "A Christmas Carol." Directed by Bharat Nalluri (MISS PETTIGREW LIVES FOR A DAY), the film shows how Charles Dickens (Dan Stevens) mixed real life inspirations with his vivid imagination to conjure up unforgettable characters and a timeless tale, forever changing the holiday season into the celebration we know today.

Every year during the holiday season I watch a Christmas Carol, and I love it. Alastair Sim version is the best "Google does not sell it ?". However watching the film or reading the book I never knew the back story, what it took for Dickens to come up with this classic, how close it came from never happening. I do not know how much of this story is biographical or fictional but I was on the edge of my seat watching this. Next Christmas I will watch this, and follow it up with the "A Christmas Carol DVD with Alastair Sim".

This is now in my top five favorite movies of all time. The actor playing Charles Dickens is such an immediately likable character conveyor. His friend is well played too. The whole thing is so nerve-wracking even though we know already that he at some point got the book published.
