J.Huston's interpretation of the story by Kipling. The character's venture turn into an unimaginable reality with a common ending to dreams that seem too good to be true. One of my favourite films of all times!

Rudyard Kipling at one of his most bizarre yet believable epic tragedies. Filmed by the great director John Huston and acted to the max by two Academy award winning actors; Sean Connery and Michael Caine. The theme of kingdoms founded by Alexander the Great's furthest conquests - India - (since verified by DNA testing) forms the backdrop to the goal of the protagonist's fortune hunt. The irony appears both at the beginning and end of this epic tale of men's greed and their downfall. A tale for any age and about any civilization. One of Kipling's most complex and enduring stories. No CGI - no nano-editing. An almost Shakespearean display of woven mental shenanigans that Kipling relates and supposedly by his own account, was told to him while he was in India in the late 19th century.

Great adventure movie. Many Masonic symbolism. Kipling was a mason.
