I really wanted to like Monuments Men, but for a war film it just felt like a failed attempt of something great. If this had better direction it could've easily competed with the likes of 'War Horse' or 'Saving Private Ryan.' Unfortunately it didn't. So, what we're left with is a lighthearted adventure film that focuses too much on bland clichés and less on crafting a memorable story.

It starts off with an emphasis that this movie is based on a true story, but it has been made into highly biased and glorified "Murica!" movie. The odd mixture of poignant reminders of WW2 with "Dad's Army"-style humour, comes across as a poorly executed knock-off to one of Tarantino's movies. It is something they want you to take serious, but you just can't. Quite a waste of the talent the cast could have provided, even more a waste of people's time.

Very poor film that has no idea what it set out to be. The film could have been great but the directing is poor. The film feels incredibly rushed which leaves large gaps in the story leaving it up to the viewer to piece it together. What a waste of a stellar cast line up.
