Based on the best-selling book series, a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray (Lily Collins), discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother (Lena Headey), Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures.

They took an amazing book and chopped it up with the finesse of a machete-wielding toddler. The casting choices were terrible. The acting was pedestrian. The director's interpretation was miles from the mark. I doubt he even read the book. My guess is they took something with huge box office potential and half-assed it thinking that the audience would blindly transfer their love and loyalty of the book series to the movie. Cassandra Clare must be appalled.

This series stands brilliant and well thought out. With such an intriguing plot and developed characters, I feel Clare is able to well portray Clarissa Fray's story with sheer captivation. Having read all of the books in TMI, I loved every aspect of it! The cast in this movie fits my view of the characters well, and overall, I'd say the movie was also near perfect despite some of the minor changes in plot. Not sure if it's a "Must See", but it definitely is a "Must Read". Bravo!! ♥♡♥

When adapting a series that has hugh fan base, it's best to adhere to the dscrp'tn of the charactors. No insult to the actors &/or their acting talents. Bad choice of Jace who suited a vampire role than a supposedly stunningly-beautiful teenager. Bad costume design for Valentine (& his psychopathic minions) who looked like malicious biker gangster than a tall white-hair charismatic Circle leader. Both Alec & Izzy a bit old for the roles. Box office flop is inevitable. Why'd Clare endorsed such bad choices?
