Roman Coleman (Matthias Schoenaerts), a convict in a rural Nevada prison who struggles to escape his past, rediscovers his own humanity in a social rehabilitation program. There he must gentle an especially unbreakable mustang named Marcus. During the program, Roman is helped by a no-nonsense veteran trainer (Bruce Dern) and an outgoing fellow inmate and trick rider (Jason Mitchell). His journey with Marcus inspires a heartfelt connection and challenges him to be a better person.
For me, this was a very powerful movie. The way they mirrored Roman and Marquis led me to view it through a lot of different lenses. Watching the simple story, sure, but then taking a deep dive into my son's and my experience, toggling back and forth between seeing his as Roman, him as the horse, me as Roman, me as the horse...it stirred up a bunch of stuff I am glad to have stirred up and washed out. "Don't just do it. Get it done." I love that line.
Movie is probably good...but Google won't let me play any of the movies i order, so i have to try to get there freakin attention somehow. How hard can it be to take my money and give me a movie to watch? Apparently for the Google-Lords, this is mighty difficult. More difficult than taming a wild mustang. its amateur hour over at google.
