The Neutral Ground documents the City of New Orleans' fight over monuments and America's troubled romance with the Lost Cause. In 2015, director CJ Hunt was filming the New Orleans City Council's vote to remove four confederate monuments. But when that removal is halted by death threats, CJ sets out to understand why a losing army from 1865 still holds so much power in America.

Love it when I can say "I've never seen a documentary like this before" - so true of this wonderful film. Hunt's compelling use of humor, history, and gonzo journalism deliver many gifts. The story of the south, the movement to remove these monuments, and Hunt himself are richer, sadder, and more joyful than anything you've heard or seen about them before. Must watch!

Powerful, awesome documentary with compassion and humor! Engages you right away, all the way to the end. If you care about racial justice, you will learn many things from this documentary and you will become more hopeful about social change. I am so glad I watched this.

Powerful documentary that should be a must-see for all who have questions and concerns about the enduring symbols of white supremacy and the false narrative of a benevolent south.
