Set in 1970s downtown Los Angeles; The Nice Guys follows wise-cracking detective Holland March (Ryan Gosling) and hard-edged enforcer Jackson Healy (Russell Crowe) as an unlikely duo, working together to investigate the case of a missing girl and the seemingly unrelated apparent suicide of a young porn star. Also featuring Kim Basinger (LA Confidential), Matt Bomer (Magic Mike) and introducing talented young star Angourie Rice as March's daughter Holly.

I expected another Kiss kiss bang bang or a Lucky number Slevin. What I saw was a lackluster movie with a couple of good gags thrown in, but not much in the way of character or story for that matter.

Not a classic, but a solid action comedy, well worth a watch. Balances the violent action and comedy quite well. Only issue is the actors did a excellent job but the characters were a little one dimensional.

Take good acting a very witty script and excellent production, throw it all away and you are left with something like this. Imagine the horror of realising there is an hour left! And that you paid for it.
