Peyton must balance her love life with King and her once estranged daughter, Christine. King proposes to Peyton but also gets a job offer from New York while having a falling out with his son, David. Now the always cautious Peyton must decide on the marriage proposal while holding her new "family" together and giving Christine the attention she needs now that Peyton is the only parent in her life. When Peyton receives a note from one of her readers of her column that scolds her for being too cautious in love, she makes a visit to the writer of the note. During this visit she finds a new friend in Eve, an older woman, who regrets not taking a chance on love in her own life with a soldier during the 50's. Through Eve's story, Peyton learns to take the big leap she needs to stay with King and keep her new family together.
