This is the quintessential love story for quite a lot of sentimental folk. While I have no problem with the acting or the direction... The story is so over the top I can't give this 5 stars. I did find the premise very touching but there were certain elements that were just unrealistic... The film is entirely about the male lead. Nobody can live up to Ryan goslings caricature of the most hopelessly romantic man in history... Rachel McAdams character pales in comparison.

It makes my wife think I can live up to to "standards" set forth by Gosling's unrelenting character in the film. Who can be that hopelessly romantic? However, the end brings it home and we all hope that is the way we go out if we are being real.
