Hinton's classic novel captures how it feels to be caught between childhood's innocence and adulthood's disillusionment. The ensemble is the original Brat Pack: Matt Dillon, Tom Cruise, Emilio Estevez, C. Thomas Howell, Diane Lane, Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe and Ralph Macchio. In an intensely visual style, Coppola has made these street rats and their struggle both heroic and unforgettable.

This movie is as brilliant as I remember. The pacing is inconsistent at times, although the overall story and strength of the acting and three dimensional characters make up for this on the most part. However I would not recommend purchasing this version of the film. As others have pointed out there is an issue with the sound levels on this format from Google Play. The music and SFX are at the right levels, but the dialogue levels are too low and you have to turn the volume up high to hear what is being said. This wouldn't be so bad if all the sound levels were low, but it's not. Therefore when you turn up the volume you can hear the characters but the trade in for that is really loud music and SFX. This movie is great; just not on Google.

Great cast, good story, coming of age drama for the marginalised youngsters of the Midwest, made harder by being on the bottom of the economic pile. Love, identity, belonging and fighting the soc are the main issues.

Film was pretty decent. Some cast that was assembled for it! But the sound was awful, and it was difficult to hear much of the speech, which kinda ruined it.
