Über diesen Film

Early 1960s. Tulsa, Oklahoma. The city is divided between teenagers who have grown up with wealth and privilege and the rough-edged "greasers" from the wrong side of the tracks. The greasers yearn for the life they see on the other side of town, but the rich kids want to keep them in their places. Then, one greaser dares cross the line to talk, and to dream of more, with a girl from across the tracks . . . an action that can only lead to conflict on a hot, steamy night.

Great book, good movie. It's pretty neat that Darren Dalton and C. Thomas Howell were in town last week for a showing of this movie at The Circle Cinema last week, (that's also where it made its debut 35 years ago). They did it to raise money to restore the house that the Curtis bros. lived in. It was in rough shape back then, but it's flat-out dilapidated now. The city even changed the street named at the intersection the house sits at.

This classic tale of unity and brotherhood is overshadowed by bad acting, poor writing, and old themes. Every word was like a history teacher droning on while the audience is the students in the back eating glue just to have something to do. But it did have a decent ending that actually climaxed in an exciting burst of quality that was missing from the previous half of the movie. That ending is the only reason this movie didn't get a single star. It's it's saving grace.

I was forced to read and watch the movie in middle school the book was god awful and predictable I never felt attached to any of the characters Johnny's death was sort of like this for me "oh he's dead." Lacked so much detail other than saying things like "this guy's handsome" you could tell it was written by a teenager (no offense I'm a teen btw) like naming someone ponyboy or soda was an awful idea this movie was far better and Dallas dying was pretty sad other than that the message it sent was good
