In The Pedal Movie, pedal builders, engineers, players, and fans tell the story of how these strange little boxes of noise have evolved through the decades and how a totally unique industry of small scale artisans has grown up around them.

Rented it while at work. It wouldn't stream. Waited until I got home to be connected to my internet; nothing. Besides for my receipt it's as if I never rented it. Not in my library, nowhere. Wants me to pay AGAIN. Google won't give refund, says contact developer, can't contact developer. Thanks alot for ripping off a working stiff. Like the pedal business as a whole; it's a rip off.

Nicely done documentary, but I feel it glossed over the new builders and technologies, while being heavily weighted on a few of the earliest pedals and effects types. By the time the documentary gets around to the 2010's, it starts rushing to a close, barely covering the golden age of pedals, when all the craziest, coolest stuff is coming out in favor of having different folks repeat the same cultural sentiments and emotional drivel. This sounds harsh, but if you're a pedal connoisseur, you're not going to glean much information from this doc, but maybe you'll still enjoy it for the sheer novelty of watching a movie about pedals.

The first two-thirds of the movie were great. I enjoyed the history and evolution of different effects. It grew tedious after that and I had to convince myself to continue to watch as makers droned on about the industry itself and speculated about its future. Didn't live up to the premarket hype from Reverb. Would've watch it a second time.
