John Travolta, Morgan Freeman, and Brendan Fraser (The Mummy) lend their talents to this searing detective thriller. Travolta plays Carson Philips, a hard-drinking LA private eye who takes a case in his old hometown of Galveston, Texas. While searching for a missing woman, Philips must confront a crime boss (Freeman), a shady doctor (Fraser), a sexy club singer (Kat Graham, "The Vampire Diaries"), his former lover (Famke Janssen, X-Men)—and his own dark, disturbing past.

One of the cheesiest movies that I've seen in a long time. The trailer looked interesting, but the acting was terrible and the storyline was poorly written. Travolta's hair looked fake and Famke Janssen had so much botox it looked like her face was going to explode. And I'm sorry but Ella Travolta is a TERRIBLE actress. She was completely expressionless in the few scenes she was in. Morgan Freeman was rock solid as usual and the only actor worth watching. Don't waste your money on this one.

Lackluster performance, well-worn and predictable plot. Travolta does not have a narrative 'voice' and is frankly quite boring. The writers produced some interesting lines without which the star (rating) would have dimmed even more.

very good movie w impressive cast. for the critics that dont liks it, every story line of every movie is not an original fresh idea. There are too many movies, too many studios, it's the quality of acting in the movie and directors talents that make a movie good! This movie has excellent acting ,a suspenseful plot ,and is well written.
