Fantastic movie. Those children had such hard lives back then I am glad to have not lived in that era. This movie sheds light on how it was. Even being the king's son seemed like it was depressing and lonely. I wanted my 6th grade son to watch this after he A) read the book and B) took his AR Test, to see how close it was to the same story line. Most of the time they stray away from the book for theatrics and add more drama. (Like sex and violence) but this one was made back when that was not needed to make people go out to the movies. Back when only real talented people were on the silver screen and there was usually only 1 blockbuster a month. This is a must see for all kids, even the old ones like me. I loved it myself and my son thought it was a great movie even though it is old like his 40 year old mom. He says he he could have skipped the book and just watched the movie for that 100 he got on the AR test he took earlier that day. I only gave this gem 4 stars because it took a long time to buffer and get started. I had to tape my son to the couch to keep him interested.

This is an excellent adaption of Mark Twain's novel. It was shown in two parts on Disney's tv show in the 1960s and never released on dvd. As good as the Earl Flynn version. Highly recommended.
