About this movie

The combination of Marilyn Monroe's light comic skills and Sir Laurence Olivier's magnificent dramatic talent make for a delightful and enchanting period romance. A saucy American showgirl in London is wooed by a roving-eyed Duke, but his estranged son, the young King, interrupts their late supper with politics and angry accusations. Through her guileless approach to both love and politics, Monroe charms them into reconciliation. Olivier directed on location in London, from a script based on the popular play.

My favourite film that stars Marilyn Monroe! Marilyn’s character is absolutely BEYOND lovable in this wonderfully written film! So glad to see her play more than a dumb blonde in this film!

One of my all time favorites. As I summarized charming and witty are both Marily's Elsie and The Prince and the Showgirl. Five stars!
