The rapture interrupts the wedding reception of a nice young couple, who endure a series of nasty situations after watching most of their friends and family drop dead (either raptured, killed by falling debris or shredded by flying demons we never really get to see) as a result of not being faithful enough. Their surviving friends, also depicted as a generally decent group of people, are. Also FORCED to make a choice under duress. Accept a cruel, violent Vengeful God as your lord and savior or die terribly on your way to an eternal hell. Living as a good person, going to church every week and struggling internally with issues regarding faith marks you for death in this movie. The movie is slightly better crafted and acted than its similarity budgeted peers on the Syfy channel but it's hidden agenda and sour ending make it less life affirming Sharknado or Avalanche Shark and make Christians seem like cult members who need fear to spread the gospel instead of individuals so afraid of death that they embrace a mythological fiction to comfort themselves or oppress anyone who won't drink their koolaid. Jesus would not approve.

One star for actually getting it made, given it's a frictional account of pure fiction, and poorly done at that, It'll appeal to the choir, but then again they are all sure that they will not be remaining, In their world view this was nearly a documentary account. And anyone "Left Behind", should be scare, just a new visioning of the old biblical scare tactics, and about as entertaining as any boogeyman horror pic would be.

It's just hard to get scared on a premise that just holds little to no horror for the watcher. The Rapture is a really boring scare for people. First you have to take the idea of sin for really scary point of view ie having sex out of wedlock. That just doesn't do it for me since ethics are not inline with sin. imagine you said "God Dammit" you've sinned, will those creature will attack you now, you have to be kidding. The creatures in this movie are incredibly kind for the characters to get out their dialog before killing them. it's just a truly boring movie unless for the jump scares.
