Co-written and directed by the legendary Billy Wilder (Some Like it Hot, The Apartment) and based on the Broadway play by George Axelrod, THE SEVEN YEAR ITCH depicts a married man's struggle to stay faithful while is wife is away on vacation.  New Yorker Richard Sherman must fend for himself while his wife leaves town for the summer.  Feeling lonely but liberated, he begins fantasizing about romantic conquests.  When a gorgeous but naïve blonde moves into the building and wants to make friends, his imagination runs rampant.  She visits him in his apartment to become acquainted but is oblivious to the effect her blatant sexiness is having on him. This prompts Richard's delusional fantasies even more!  Richard Sherman is suddenly brought back to reality when his wife unexpectedly returns from her holiday. Calificaciones y opiniones

Given the heavy censorship in force when this movie was being filmed, one only wonders what might have been the final result had the director been allowed to follow the book's original premise. Evell and Monroe make the best of it; Monroe sizzles and dominates each scene with her artful blend of wide-eyed innocence and street smarts. I still try to immitate her breathy, "Why thanks, I'd love it!" and fail miserably. Monroe was a glittering jewel on screen and she knew it. A great film for re-watching.
