Acerca deste filme

Academy Award nominee Laurence Fishburne, Brenton Thwaites, Olivia Cooke and Beau Knapp star in this mind-bending and suspenseful sci-fi thriller. Nic (Thwaites), his girlfriend Haley (Cooke) and his buddy Jonah (Knapp) take an unexpected detour from an idyllic cross-country road trip when they are contacted by a mysterious hacker who has gained entry into MIT's secured network. But after a rendezvous in an eerily remote area goes awry, Nic wakes to a living nightmare in an isolation unit. Interrogated by Dr. Wallace Damon (Fishburne), Nic soon realizes that the only way to decipher the past… is to escape the present. (Original Title - The Signal)

--Mild Spoilers-- Based on the trailers for this movie, I thought this movie had a lot of potential to be something amazing. Alas It was not. Though it did resolve a couple questions that a viewer might bring up, the ending is ultimately pretty predictable but with out the explanation it deserves. Why the main character got his gifts is pretty obvious, but as for the secondary characters I have no idea. Hell, I don't even know what was going on with the girl. At the end of the day, this movie is really about the almost rekindling of a couple's broken relationship with a sci-fi backdrop. If you're into that kind of thing then more power to you, but as someone who appreciates good science fiction for being good science fiction I was disappointed and regret blowing the ~$5 it took to rent it. Its not the BIGGEST waste of a time of a movie, but you'd have to search a bit to fond a worse one.

Movie started out rather interestingly... and definitely picked up. However, I think they just missed several things early on that could have improved the initial first part of the movie... and as far as the last parts... it is like they ran out of things to do (i.e. the writers left). I felt like the movie had a lot of potential... but as you are waiting for that big climatic moment... you are left with disappointment. Someone had a nice budget... but it was like the blew it early on and the bean-counters dropped by and told everyone to wrap it up... the money is gone. The first persons to leave were the writers... sadly enough. Fishburne never delivers on what could have been a very cool character. Again, I blame the writers and not the actor. Scene after scene you will sit there and realize... this could have been done this way... and it would have made it so much better. In the end, you feel alittle cheated... that they opted for some slow-mos and FX shots -- funds that could have been spent on the writers coming up with a better second half of the movie. Ah, what could have been...

SPOILER ALERT: this seems like the modern low budget version of the matrix. The premise is really engaging, and I was left hanging on the edge of my seat until the reveals started happening. The robotic implants were really cool, as were the added abilities to the patients. But we still don't understand why the girl was in a coma, or why the friend was deemed expendable. The final explanation or hands that the entire story was a computer simulation taking place on some advanced space colony feels cheap.
