Amazing storytelling, I am currently writing a script for a short film that is based on a true story. It's about my best friend who went through sudden hearing loss at the age of 9. Even though doctors doubted his success in school, we graduated from our bachelors together and he was an honored student, unlike me. He is a creative and successful person and I believe his story deserves to be told. This movie is helping me a lot to build my story. Great work!

Not rated R. I just watched it yesterday and there's nothing wrong with it. No curse words, no gross scenes, no inappropriate dialogue. It's worth paying for it, watching it to make sure all the "it's not rated R" reviews are right, and then watching it with your grandma, your neighbors, your class, or your neice. It's great and PG at worst. Just watch it first before showing others, it is sad.

The situation in the film is far too common. My parents are Deaf and grew up with family members who did not learn sign language and communicate with them. My father learned American Sign Language during his 20's and became more involved with the Deaf community during his adult life. My mother learned American Sign Language at an early age and went to a school for the deaf until her teens when family members placed her in a mainstream environment. That decision has caused a lot of trauma and dysfunction between my mother and her family. Personally, I benefited from American Sign Language from an early age and attended a school for the deaf where most teachers, staff and students used American Sign Language. That was a very inclusive environment and I thrived. I'm currently a college professor at an Ivy League university, so learning American Sign Language gave me the language and academic skills needed to thrive as an adult. I thank my parents for not repeating the mistakes their family made.
