Those who criticized this flick as a space age teenage romance kind of missed the boat. It's really more than that and, in fact, not a bad film. Where it falls down is in its many errors about physical phenomena. The producers apparently lacked a good science background, especially in physics and medical science. This could have gone from a decent film which did poorly at the box office to a great film if they had just spent a few nights at a Los Alamos pub discussing physics with the locals, many of whom happen to have PhD's in relevant fields. For starters, radio waves do not travel instantaneously across space, a person with a failing heart will almost certainly die if subjected to the G-forces of a single stage-to-orbit spacecraft, and a kid who wrecks a vehicle on Mars is going to be treated very differently from a kid who smashes dad's car on earth. With some work, this could have been a great film.

I read that the critics rated this low. They want shoot-em up action. The film company put significant resources in this can. The editors did an excellent job. I liked the straight through camera work instead of Cinemax. The actors gave excellent performances and made me forget the mechanics of film. The premise worked for me; forget the science. Movies should entertain and this story did that for me. To those who gave reviews based on tropes calling the film predictable, I disagree. Owing to fact that we're looking at an independent film, I found it worth recommending for plot, dialog, editing, direction and design.

By far, tackiest movie I have seen in the past year -- at least. Dialogue was way to predictable and cheesy. It's a shame, because the concept had a lot of potential. I suppose I had high expectations, but sadly this did not even meet standard expectations.
