An authentic story - with no reductive or "redemptive" notes - of a psyche at odds with reality. The monsters (foreign and domestic) are not caricatures, they are terrifying by virtue of their interchangeable familiarity. Very difficult in some sections but brilliant.

This so accurately portrayed the mindset of a victim and the psychological measures one puts onesself through in order to survive trauma.
