A renowned environmental advocate, Dr. David Kruipen (Val Kilmer) discovers the carcass of a woolly mammoth in a polar ice cap, while leading a team of four bright ecology students in a research mission at a remote Arctic station. The group uncovers information beyond their wildest dreams...and nightmares when a prehistoric parasite revives and searches for a new warm- blooded host. Now infected, the unsuspecting students are forced to choose between a quarantine that will result in their death or a global epidemic.

Variation/homage of John Carpenter's 'The Thing' Set in the Canadian artic borderlands. Stark locations and gross, body horror imagery enhance this story about a frozen Mammoth carcass harboring some very nasty parasites. Three films to my knowledge riff Carpenter's The Thing shamelessly- The Thaw, Blood Glacier and Harbinger Down. Of those three, this one is the best imo. Fair warning though, this flick is guaranteed to make you squirm & itch👍

very good movie, up there with the thing.

Great acting and suspense all the way through. A must see!!!
