Starring Eddie Redmayne ("Les Misérables") and Felicity Jones ("The Amazing Spider-Man 2"), this is the extraordinary story of one of the world's greatest living minds, the renowned astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, who falls deeply in love with fellow Cambridge student Jane Wilde. Once a healthy, active young man, Hawking received an earth-shattering diagnosis at 21 years of age. With Jane fighting tirelessly by his side, Stephen embarks on his most ambitious scientific work, studying the very thing he now has precious little of - time. Together, they defy impossible odds, breaking new ground in medicine and science, and achieving more than they could ever have dreamed. Something unfortunate happens to terribly smart terribly middle class people. They handle it in a terribly dignified terribly middle class way. Eddie's acting is superb but this film is the most biege piece of cinema ever (literally, the cinematographic pallet hardly deviates from it).

Surprisingly funny at times. Deserving of an Oscar for Redmayne but the supporting cast are great too. Period detail pretty much spot on. Expected to be bored but definitely wasn't. Well worth seeing.

About to watch. Would rather rent but can't irritating that it's cheaper to buy on amazon. I'd like to keep my movie collection in one place.
