About this movie

Based on the graphic novel by James Jones, The Thin Red Line tells the story of a group of men, an Army Rifle company called C-for-Charlie, who change, suffer, and ultimately make essential discoveries about themselves during the fierce World War II battle of Guadalcanal. It follows their journey, from the surprise of an unopposed landing, through the bloody and exhausting battles that follow, to the ultimate departure of those who survived. A powerful frontline cast - including Sean Penn, Nick Nolte, Woody Harrelson and George Clooney - explodes into action in this hauntingly realistic view of military and moral chaos in the Pacific during World War II.

Beautifully filmed this is one of the best war movies I have seen. It is at once moving, disturbing and haunting. My only fault would be that although I like George Clooney as an actor I don't think he was an idea choice for his part, he was just too Clooney.

One of the best, if not THE best war movies I have ever seen. The shear number of top name actors and quite a few who were then starting their great careers in this movie is insane. Heck, their even stars actors that are just in the background as extras. It was great just looking for their faces among the crowds. The scenes, acting, narration, everything are all superb. This movie didn't cut any corners when it came to expense. Very moving movie of war and life/death. Brotherhood among men.

This movie is like Gone with the Wind for men. It portrays a real life depiction of military life and war, its effects, what goes in soldier's minds and goes to show how hard it can be. I recommend watching it!
