I saw John Carpenter's The Thing for first time when I was six and I think it defined me as a sci-fi fan, so seeing it again brought back all that childish glee. Though I admit that I may be a little biased, I can't find anything immediately wrong with this movie. It lacks the modern special effects, sure, but it doesn't lack plot, pacing or acting. The Thing is a classic and if you disregard the outdated (but very well made for its time) special effects, then there's nothing stopping you from enjoying it.

Simply one of the best science fiction horrors of all time. One of Carpenters best. Kurt Russel is pefectly cast as are all the other actors. Story 10/10 suspense 10/10 music 10/10 special effects 10/10 for their post CGI genius. All in all one of the most perfect films of the genre ever produced
