A UFO crashes near an isolated military base in the far Arctic.Scientists recover the craft's now-frozen alien pilot and take it back to their base. While debating whether to study the alien, try to communicate with it or kill it, the pilot awakens--and the scientists' question of if it is friend or foe is quickly answered.Now, trapped in a frozen wasteland with an unstoppable, nonhuman creature that sees them as prey, the small band of scientists come face to face with The Thing.

A very well made suspense horror film. The story was written well. The acting was very good. The antagonist was scary for the era in which the film was made. My only criticism is that I did not get as much of the antagonist as I would have liked.

I saw this when I was 4 years old. I was afraid to go to the bathroom by myself, for a long time afterward. My mom had to stand outside the door where I could see her. 🙄

I loved watching the source material for one of my all time favorite sci fi/horror films, The Thing. I really do enjoy the work Howard Hawks & the cast did here but I'm still a larger fan of Carpenter's take on the story. CHECK THIS ONE OUT!
