The year is 2005…

For millennia, the heroic Autobots, led by Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen), have been at war with the evil Megatron (Frank Welker) and his Decepticons over control of their home planet of Cybertron. Was excited to show this to my kids, but was disappointed to find out this was the version with the swear words left in. It didn't even occur to me to check, it'd been so long since I'd seen it myself. So, beware, there's the famous line from Spike 'Ah S%^$' and a 'Dammit' in here. Wish there was some disclosure to that fact ahead of time. Maybe this review will help someone else.

What can I say- this movie is a classic in it's way. Probably most memorable for many legions of 80s kids was the death of Optimus Prime. But from the point of view of someone who saw it back in 2012, I think the movie was solid. Cheesy, yes. A master piece of cinema? No. But a fun time watching a movie, packed with 80s fun? A big yes to that. A must watch for transformers fans!

You have to go into this movie with the right expectations. It was based on an 80s cartoon that was used to sell toys to kids. This movie is an extension of that. It is cheesy, the soundtrack is over the top and the WORST example of 80s Rockwell soundtracks, the editing is rushed and the dialog isn't all that great or well written. Having said all that this movie is a pure shotof nostalgia to the veins. If you enjoyed the 80s cartoon or love Transformers this movie is perfect. Without that nostalgia this movie will be hard to sit through.
